Inter Merseyside Competition
The final judging of the Inter-Merseyside competition was held on 27th May at SLPS, the Judge was Jeremy Jeremy Malley-Smith LRPS BPE2*.
Although, as a club, we were not among the front runners, a couple of our prints scored particularly well – viz Doug Bennison’s 'Robin', Jill Ledwidge's 'Bamburgh Castle' and Sandra Bennison’s 'Liverpool One'. The overall winners were Southport Photographic Society.
LCPU Annual Competition
In the LCPU Annual Competition, which has entries from all the photographic clubs in the counties of Lancashire and Cheshire, Maghull fared very well, particularly considering its relatively small membership - finishing 9th out of 60 clubs in the General Colour Print Section. Of the clubs in the local area, only Southport PS was ahead of us in the overall competition.
Many congratulations to Jill Ledwidge, as she was awarded a perfect score of 15 points and a Certificate of Merit for her portrait ‘Natalie’, a ballerina. The photograph had also previously been declared Print of the Year in the Club’s Annual Competition. This print, together with one from Sandra Bennison,’ Ups and Downs’, and Doug Bennison's ‘Liverpool Waterfront’ were also retained for inclusion in the folios which will tour the LCPU’s clubs next year. Fabulous!
